Wow! It’s been over a year since the pandemic started. Crazy, isn’t it? Perhaps you are like me. I still can’t believe that I will experience a PANDEMIC in my lifetime 😦 . Whenever you check the news, I am sure that most of the times you hear about vaccinations and that you start wondering what will happen the moment you get yours.
Now here’s what I got for you. In my simple (and short) blog post, I listed down the effects of vaccination. What are the things you may expect to happen? What are those things you might feel afterwards? Here are few of the questions you (or we) may ask. So yes, let me try a bit to answer these. Let’s begin. 🙂
#1 Redness, Swelling and Pain on the part of your body where you got the shot
Woahhh.. What’s happening here? The moment you got your shot, you possibly would have redness, swelling and pain on your arm (this is the usual place where you will get injected because of your “muscle tissue”. I will discuss this in a separate blog post.). It depends on the person. There are individuals who immediately experience these, while others experience it after several minutes or up to few hours. But don’t you worry. This is just a normal reaction towards the vaccine itself, or even to the needle in the syringe. This is normal. No need to panic as this will go away on its own.
In my previous post, I discussed how vaccines work (have you read it yet? Go and browse over my previous posts 🙂 ). Just think of the swelling, redness and pain as signs of cells having their warm up before doing their job. Just like the image below:
And yes, right after the “meeting” of our immune cells, they will then start doing jobs. They will fight off the “pathogens” (disease-causing organisms) present in our body. And yes, it’s the start of war. Hence, the fever. Do not worry, this is normal. But if the fever continues for more than 3 days, and you feel it is getting worse, please call the doctor immediately.
#3 Tiredness, Headache, Chills.. oh what else..
Yes, you will probably also feel tired, and even have headache, after your vaccination. Again, these are some of the side effects of the “cell wars”. 😀
So bottomline is, feeling feverish, exhausted as if you did soooo much (when in fact you just sat down and showed your arm to the person-in-charge of vaccination 😀 ), and weak is completely normal. Of course, if you feel these symptoms and signs are taking several days to disappear, it’s time to consult the doctor.
You might have also heard of people who refused to get vaccinated because they are afraid of the “negative side effects” of the vaccine. I am in no position to discuss these effects, but one thing I can advice. Read reputable scientific papers and try to understand the components of the vaccines and what it can do to you. It is so much better to have knowledge about these vaccines than rely on “gossips”. 🙂
We do not have our Golden Bullet against Covid19 virus, yet, and the vaccines we have on hand right now may not be 100% efficient. But with the increasing number of deaths every day, in almost all countries, having your shot will be the BEST OPTION. 🙂
Take care and stay safe everyone! See you in my next blog post. 🙂
